We all want to know how to be happier, how to be skinnier, how to eat healthier, how to accomplish more than humanly possible, how to have the perfect marriage, how to be the ideal family, and the list goes on.
What I Believe Lies In Us Being Truly Happy…
When does this start? WHY does this thinking start? Why do we have to be better, happier, and more successful than those around us? I believe that our satisfaction in life comes down to doing what we love. As I was wasting time on the internet the other day, trying to put off the inevitable to-do list, I stumbled upon a video that made me start thinking about doing what we love.
Let me paraphrase what I got out of the movie What If Money Didn’t Matter (you can find it on Youtube). It was narrated by a career counselor who talked about doing what we love. He posed the question along the lines of, “why would we spend all our time doing something we don’t enjoy?” He pointed out that when we pursue a path that is not something we love we spend all our time trying to accumulate money and we will never be happy. It would be better to live a short life doing something we enjoy than live a long life being miserable. Sadly, we even train our children to do the same! We send them to school to get an education, to do what? Something they don’t enjoy? The narratorsaid that oftentimes students come into his office who are about to graduate college without any idea of what they want to do. He then sits them down and asks them that if they take money out of the equation completely, what would they like to do? Once they come to a conclusion he tells them that that is what they should do. Forget about the money. Forget about the status. Do what you love to do until one day you become a master at it. Then someone will have to pay a great fee for your services!
That my friends is what lies in us being happy. We tell ourselves that if we can just accomplish these things, or just have that car, we would then be happy. But really, if we were to spend our time doing something that we love rather than spending our time being miserable with something we don’t enjoy we would be much more content. Much happier. And much, much, more successful.
What Now?
I dare you. I dare you to take money out of the equation. I dare you to examine yourself and find out what you would really love to do. Once you can put a finger on it, do it. Because you will be much happier and much more satisfied in all aspects of your life if you are doing something that makes you happy.
The human body is what makes me tick. But I’m still trying to figure out what it is exactly that I would do if money weren’t in the equation. For now, I write about health and fitness. If you want to be healthier, check out Home Gym Reviewfor reviews on the top home gym equipment.
